Police distributes food items in Srinagar, Kupwara, Sopore | KNO

Srinagar, Apr 02 (KNO): Police on Thursday continued to provide food and other essential items to the needy people in the valley. According to a statement issued to wire service— Kashmir News Observer (KNO), police said that it provided food and other essential items to people in Srinagar, Kupwara districts and PD Sopore. Police also facilitated the distribution of food items in collaboration with NGO Murawat at Srinagar, the statement said. In Srinagar, police distributed food items to the destitute families at Shaheed Gunj and Shergarhi areas amid COVID-19 lockdown. Police teams from local police units reached to the needy people especially non-local residents and distributed essentials among them, the statement reads, adding that Srinagar police in Collaboration with NGO Murawat also facilitated distribution of food items in the jurisdiction of Police Station Karan Nagar. In Kupwara, Police team from Police Station Sogam along with volunteers of Chandigam reached out to the needy people of Chandigam Lolab area and provided them food and other items. Officers from police unit Khurhama also provide food and other eatable items to the needy, police handout reads. Similarly in Sopore, Police distributed food items among needy people especially non locals by Police Station Tarzoo and Police Post Putkha in their respective areas. Apart from these drives, Police also ensuring proper social distance near ATMs in order to minimise chances of spreading COVID-19. Police said that people were made aware to take precautions to fight back Coronavirus Pandemic, besides sought their co-operation and obedience to the guidelines as provided by government and not to come out of homes unless there is an emergency—(KNO)
